Commonwealth Disco


"Glasgow, 15th July, 2014 - Come and enjoy the opening weekend of the Commonwealth Games with us this Friday, 25t h July and get down to the tunes of Commonwealth. From 8 p.m., the Kinning Park Complex will start to vibrate to the rhythms of Jamaican, Ghanian, Bolywood and Aussie beats. Make your experience of the 20th Commonwealth games unforgattable and take part in the unique Commonwealth Disco event brought to you by one of the Scotland's most interesting international youth organizations Xchange Scotland.

“We would like people to have fun and great time with us and at the same time remind them the various cultures of the Commonwealth and importance of intercultural events for our common future.”, says Martin Avila, the director of Xchange Scotland and main organizer of Commonwealth Disco.

Xchange Scotland, a youth-led charity set up 6 years ago and is involved in international volunteering and educational projects, sending many young volunteers overseas every year. Its aim is to make a positive change in today's society and to inspire volunteers both around the world and around the corner. The work of organization consists of three main areas: sending Scottish volunteers abroad, hosting in Scotland and Global Education projects.


The celebration event is funded by Big Lottery and the guests can look forward to tunes and snacks from round the Commonwealth and friendly international atmosphere. Both entrance and refreshments are for free."
