Tell us your questions for Southside MPs
It's been an odd time for UK politics recently, with the Expenses Scandal shaking the ancient foundations of Westminster and scattering piles of dodgy "receipts" and half built duck houses all over the floor. The only positive side-effect of the whole sorry fiasco has been to enrage and engage everyone over how the country is being run and who should be running it.
With that in mind and with the General election coming up, we thought it might be interesting to find out a little bit more about the various candidates who are competing for our Southside votes. Our plan is to send a series of questions to each of the three wards candidates to find out where they stand on various topics, why they feel they should get our votes and what are their future plans for the Southside.

So what should we ask them?
Please leave your questions in the comments below and we'll take the most popular and send to the candidates to find out where they stand.

Good idea. I'd like to know how mixed up with the expenses thing each of the candidates are? Also how do the Glasgow wards divide up?
What do they think of the M74 extension and their thoughts on the public transport in the Southside.
Yeah public transport is a good one. Also what do they think should happen, in an ideal world, to the shawlands arcade?
How do they feel about green energy, sub-money from government for us to make our homes more green?

Interesting to see that labour and conservities were supporting each other.
What are their views on the Iraq war?
What are their views on the Afganastan war?
What about their position on public services? Like the BBC?
What will the candidates do the ensure that the M74 extension doesn't fracture the connection between the Southside and the city centre as the M8 did to the West End? What improvements can I expect to see as a pedestrian / cyclist who walks between our neighbourhood and the city?
Agree on the M74 questions - how the Southside connects to the city centre and how it connects to the east and west are really important for the growth and improvement for Glasgow.
Also want to hear their suggestions on helping to improve intergration of the Southsides many cultures.
What do they think about the Robin Hood Tax proposal?
What will they do to help revive local business in Shawlands? Do they agree that Shawlands Arcade is literally a wasted space at the moment and what will they do to change it?
Maybe ask them questions like, what the they is the character of the southside? Where is the heart of the southside? What areas of the southside would they like to improve and how?
If they could make one change to the Southside what would it be?
What do they make of the proposals for the bus depot/ supermarket at Larkfield? In favour or against and why?
Thanks for all the suggestions - I think judging from the number of people commenting on the Larkfield bus depot that it should be on the list of questions. Maybe we should open that up a little though and be asking on the candidates widers proposals for rejuvenating our highstreets and helping smaller shops?
Kind of relevant I think. Question them about their position on renewable energy and nuclear power. I'll be interested to see if you get any answers from them. I would imagine they will all squirm out of giving a full response.
Trident?
