For tea and cake I would either pick Tapa on Pollokshields road
http://www.tapabakehouse.com/
or Bella Napoli on Kilmarnock Rd
http://www.crolla.com/
(but can I have coffee!)

For proper tea and cake it has to be Moyra Janes just off of Albert Drive, proper old school.

Along with many of the other recommendations, we've enjoyed a fine pot o' tea and wee nibble at Grianach on Nithsdale Road recently. If you can handle being surrounded by tourists and potential wedding parties, the café in Pollok House is another pleasant diversion, with decent tea and tasty cakes. (As long as it's tea, there's a whole bevy of southside locales - when it comes to espresso, though, they're all quite shoddy.)

The best place in the Southside to have tea and cake is at my friend Sheonad's house. She makes a delicious banana and chocolate chip cake. Yay for tea and cake! Otherwise it has to be Grianach or Gusto & Relish.

Tapa on Pollockshaws Road. Their coffee is amazing and they have this great coconut cake that instantly reminds me of my Granny. My 4 year old loves the flapjacks and calls it 'flapjack cafe'!

I fancied a little treat one day
So on my way i skipped
To a fabby little deli
Which i heard was hotly tipped

Deli 1901 in shawlands
For tea and a slice of cake
But would it be carrot or chocolate
The choice i had to make

I pondered and i pondered
What was i to do?
So i took the only option
And decided to have the two!

1901 is my favourite
It's yummy and it's fab
And if i had one request
It's please give me tab!

For an old school tearoom experience with fabulous cheese scones and mouth watering cakes it has to be The Wishing Well in Eaglesham. A true southside institution it has been on the go for at least 35 years and from your granny to your girlfriends is great wee place to head for some delicious tea and cake.

I just moved back to Glasgow, though new to the Southside and I was overjoyed to hear that their was a Tchai-Ovna on my street! Alas I was heartbroken to discover it has reincarnated into a Laundrette... but I can recommend the ritual of tea and a yum yum whilst watching yer smalls spin. Good for a broken heart...

Eat deli at Clarkston Toll has the best apple and cinammon scones and courgette and lime cupcakes and bread to rival tapas ( which is saying something) Its a bit of a trek for us shawlands crew but you can catch the train from crossmyloof in 9 mins and there are 4/5 really good charity shops including a great oxfam bookshop - why am i giving away my secrets ??
