Winners

Very belated announcement of the winner's of our two giveaways last month.
Cookie and The CitzWinner of dinner for two at Cookie and tickets to see "After the End" at The Citizens on Tuesday 24th May is Mary Anne Meyering. (Mary get in touch quick to arrange getting you the prize.)

SeedbomThe two packs of Seedboms were won by Jen and by Gail. Strangely from clicking on the links in their comments it would appear that they both write food related blogs - one about a raw food diet and the other about recipe try outs and restaurant reviews. Odd coincedence?
Guys, send us an email to find out how to claim your prizes and your little Southside Happenings badges.

"During the summer of 1960, Marilyn Monroe and French actress Simone Signoret live in adjacent apartments at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Thrown together while Monroe films the movie Let’s Make Love with Signoret’s husband Yves Montand, the pair form an uneasy friendship, plagued by jealousy and insecurity. Under the watchful eye of Patti, hairdresser to the stars, it will become a relationship that will test their deepest beliefs and threaten to destroy them both."

Christmas Gifts

We've been away for the last few weeks and missed all the snow. We have also returned to a world filled with Christmas music, decorated trees and white beared men dressed in red. This has brought home the fact that while November is a fun time to take your "summer" holiday it means you only have a few weeks left to do your Christmas Shopping, Arrrgh.
With that in mind we need your help, we want to stay South this Christmas and buy our loved ones gifts from the local area, so who has some suggestions for places to shop or particular southside based things to buy?
Leave a comment on the blog below to be entered into our Great Southside Christmas Giveaway and you will win a Southside Happenings goodie bag, filled with some of the lovely objects that we make in our day jobs (Some Christmas Cards, some books and a couple of signed mini prints) five lucky people will also win a gift that money just can't buy . . . a southside happenings winners badge and a couple of our "I heart the southside" and "Shop South" badges that we made for Bungo in the Back Lanes last summer.

It’s our third birthday this month, and being better than the Queen, we are preparing birthday celebrations for the whole month of April. We’ve also decided that receiving gifts is a bit old hat and have decided, with the help of some Southside businesses to shower birthday gifts on our readers.

As most of you know we love Skirving Street, there’s an interesting bunch of unique shops, café’s and restaurants located there. It’s a street that we should all support because interesting, one off, independent establishments make our cities a more interesting and enjoyable place to live.

So with the help of the Skirving Street shops: Odd Bins, Deli 1901, Blue Lagoon, Cosgrove Care, Biscuit, Girasoil, The Dressers Room, Youngs Interesting Books, Butterfly Kisses, 16 Cosgrove, Altura Restaurant, Beanscene, Skirving Peking and Cantonese, and RW Stevens we’re having the biggest birthday giveaway ever*

So here is the prize list: Lunch for two at the Altura restaurant*, Fish Supper from Blue Lagoon, a beautiful pair of vintage earrings from The Dressers Room, a lovely bottle of wine from Odd Bins, tea and cake or lunch at Biscuit**, a fantastic expresso mocha pot and 1901 coffee from Deli 1901, a very nice chess set from Cosgrove Care, a free hair cut from Girasol, a beautifully designed Earl & Pearl mug and tea towel from the lovely Butterfly Kisses, £20 worth of books at Young's Interesting Books, and last but not least coffee and cake for two from Beanscene.

To enter you must be one of the following; our friend on Facebook, our follower on Twitter, signed up to our RSS email or signed up to our Mailing List.

Then just leave your name and a comment below on the subject "Name your favourite place ie shop, theatre, restaurant in the Southside and why" and you'll be entered into the draw. Please try to make sure it will be easy to identify you. If possible leave a link to your webpage, blog, Facebook or twitter in the little URL option of the comments box.

Welcome to the Southside Happenings site, documenting our adventures, things to do, places to see, and other information on the Southside of Glasgow.
          documenting our adventures,
I am not sure how you would categorise this site, it’s not a ‘what’s on guide’ …it’s just some interesting stories about what we’re doing, or planning to do, in the Southside of Glasgow. [Now and again we might stray across the river, don’t hold it against us].
          documenting our adventures,
Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading this, it may give you an idea of what to do on your next day off, night out, or maybe just something to read during your tea break.
