The Tramway & Pollok Park
The heavy horse stables at pollok park
We love Newlands Park. Nice small playpark, picnic benches, tennis for older ones. Smaller kids can cycle or go on their scooters. It has a little pond too and some beautiful flowers. Some lovely benches to sit and relax on and watch the world go by.
On a Wednesday morning the Police Dogs branch, in Pollok Park, do a show and demonstration. Also, seeing the Highland coos in Pollok Park and feeding the ducks in Rouken Glen park
Also, we love the Gymboree classes held in Pollokshaws Burgh hall - they're great fun, very lively and full of imagination
It's got the be the Tramway - it's just the perfect place to hang out with kids and adults. But the southside is awesome for kids - Pollock park (the Burrell has a 'trail' kids can do - ask at the desk for a backpack), Queens park for the soft play area, Maxwell park for practicing on the bike, Sportykids for rainy days, Beanscene for coffee...
Rouken Glen park. Great play area followed by getting into clear spherical things to go onto the pond in. Nice pondside cafe too if anyone gets a bit thirsty.
Science centre always fab! followed by Pizza in la fiorentina, can't beat it esp. with a 10 yr old niece who flirts with all the waiters!
Got to be the Hidden Gardens!
What my granny used to do with me at the weekend; head down to Queen's Park, spend some time in the Glasshouse, maybe bring my rollerskates down so I could skate around the pond and then take me to the Queen's Park Cafe or the Brooklyn Cafe for a roll and a big knickerbocker glory. Ye cannae beat it.
I hail from Newlands but now live 'darn sarf'. Your all bringing a tear to my eye with great places I remember from my younger days. Thanks all!
Impact Kids Club Fridays 6pm-7:30pm
at Glasgow Elim Church, Inglefield St. Govanhill. Fun, quizzes, games, puppets etc. For ages 5-11.
Rouken glen is great for a picnic and play park is decent too. Also they have painting on in the pavillon sometimes on a sunday
Bellahouston park n the burrell collection r great places for the kids
My nephew is 3 and half and i play the cool auntie card with a trip to queens park to feed the ducks, a rampage in the play park, picnic on the grass and a visit to the ice cream van. Followed by a milkshake from Biscuit. The perfect Saturday for him and me!
Its got to be the parks: Queens Park for the Glasshouses, Maxwell Park for the swans, Titwood Park for the amazing new play equipment, Hidden Gardens for exploring. The Tramway is a fab space for kids and adults and my daughter loves the Starcatcher artist in residence installations. I moved from the West End 2 years ago and the South Side is much better for kids.
got to be visiting the lizards, spiders, snakes and parrots in the Glasshouse at Queens Park!
a toss up between the Glasshouse and the Hidden Gardens. We are blessed with green space in Glasgow (and the Southside) - all great to explore with the wee ones.
Queens Park glasshouses when the weather's not so hot and a wealth of choice when the weathers good - Pollok Park, Linn Park, Rouken Glen with the boats, Maxwell Park and the wee pond. Arne't we lucky :-)
saturday brunch at the brooklyn cafe on minard road ... that's heaven.
There is a lovely play park beside the house for an art lover
Take kids to the Tramway on Sunday! its a family day .. and we doing an event for under 4 year olds called 'Sproglit' in the morning then you can make music throughout the building and then bask in the sun out in the Hidden Gardens!
The playpark at House for An Art Lover in Bellahouston park is great for kids and has much more than your usual slide/swing/climbing frame. Maxwell park is also lovely - the playpark is good and there are ducks to feed at the pond! Bit further out, the playpark at Rouken Glen i would say is excellent as it caters for all ages - there are a few different size slides which means my 22 month old daughter doesn't get frustrated at not being able to go on slides that are too big for her!
Pollok Park also a good day out, nice play park, highland coos, Pollok House at Xmas just magic and exploring the woods behind Pollok House is good for hours of fun. Tramway and Glasshouse are great too of course, as is Rouken Glen.
I'd say Queens Park - its got ducks, trees, swings, a smashing view and when you get to the other side - ice cream :)
A bike ride along the riverbank to the back of pollock house up past the cattle to the playpark and if it rains there are plenty of trees for shelter. The 1901 restaurant pizzas are hard to beat. I really rate the tramway for family events and outside the kids can let their imagination run wild playing.
Feeding the squirrels in Queens Park. It's all fun and games until somebody's dog tries to join in the fun and scares them away.
