Burns Suppers and Ceilidh's
On the 25th January there will be Burns suppers, and poetry reciting throughout the world. I think Ayrshire maybe just outside our Southside boundary, however there are several Burns events going on in the Southside, you can probably even go to more than one, most are around the 25th of January.
The Glasgow IVC will be holding a Burns Supper in St. Ninian's Church Hall, on Saturday 22nd January at 19.00 - 01.00. Tickets cost £25 and includes your Meal (Soup, Haggis Neeps and Tattie followed by Apple Pie), piper, a glass of wine, soft drinks & ceilidh. Langside College will be holding a Burns Supper and Ceilidh in their new college theatre and bar, from 7.30pm till late. Tickets are £8/£5 telephone 0141 272 3771
We've already posted about the now legendary Govanhill Bath Trust's Burns Nicht Ceilidh, taking place on the 29 January at Langside Halls. Tickets will be available from the GBCT office, 126 Calder Street, Govanhill or e-mail info@govanhillbaths.com They've kept ticket prices at the same rate as last year, £10 and £8 conc (including a haggis dinner), and have booked the 'Cosmic Ceilidh Band' for the event!
The House for an Art Lover will host their traditional Burns Supper night on the 29 January. Guests will be welcomed by the enchanting sounds of a piper as they enjoy a glass of sparkling wine in the stunning surroundings of the Music Room before proceeding to the Main Hall and Dining Room, where they will be served Burns’ inspired fare with a twist including the traditional neeps, tatties and of course the renowned guest of honour, the haggis. Following the hearty address to the haggis and delightful dinner, guests will be further entertained by popular Burns’ poetry including the perennial Tam O’Shanter as well as a selection of lively songs.
