"A thrift shop opening up on Glasgow’s Pollokshaws Road very soon, right next door to The Glad Cafe. Our aims are to divert your pre-loved clothes and goods from going to landfill (yay for recycling and up-cycling!), provide volunteering and employment opportunities in the community and, since we are a not-for-profit co-operative, all profits raised from the shop will be used to support the Glad Foundation and the programme of the social enterprise, The Glad Cafe.

The Glad Foundation provides affordable or free music workshops and lessons for people in the local area. For more info on the Glad Foundation, see www.thegladfoundation.co.uk"

Folk Carols in the Pub with Govanhill Voices

"December is upon us and with it the delights of Folk Carols in the Pub!  If you hate commercial Christmas music, if weeks of saccharine muzak in the shops drives you mad every year, this is for you...

In some parts of the country at this time they still gather in pubs to sing local carols long forgotten or never known elsewhere.  Some of them used to be sung in village churches in the days of the church bands, before organs and church choirs as we know them now, and they sound very different from today's carols.

Welcome to the Southside Happenings site, documenting our adventures, things to do, places to see, and other information on the Southside of Glasgow.
          documenting our adventures,
I am not sure how you would categorise this site, it’s not a ‘what’s on guide’ …it’s just some interesting stories about what we’re doing, or planning to do, in the Southside of Glasgow. [Now and again we might stray across the river, don’t hold it against us].
          documenting our adventures,
Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading this, it may give you an idea of what to do on your next day off, night out, or maybe just something to read during your tea break.
documenting our adventures, things to do Please feel free to add your comments, suggestions or tell us we’re completely wrong. If you know of an interesting event or a place worth a visit, feel free to get in touch with us.
