Pollok Park Family Day is on 7th August this year.
We are really lucky in the Southside to have all these unique festivals but..
I do think it would be better if they picked different weekends [Castlemilk family day & Southside Festival, Govan and Gorbals are on the same weekend]
Also most of them are poorly advertised so thank you Southside Happenings for letting us know.
You're joking they have these events on the same days?
Whats wrong with the muppets at the Council. Its bad enough that they don't advertise properly that the events are on or give us an chance to get involved but to arrange them on the same day is just blooming stupid.
Who at the Council is in charge of organising these things or is it another Culture/ Sport sub division?
In saying all that its great that they are going on and they show again how wonderful it is to live on the south side. Really looking forward to at least four of the above events, lets hope for a warm and dry summer.
Bungo in the Back Lanes is organised by the Bungo Society not the Council.
If you live in Strathbungo or even if you don't you can get involved. Help is always welcome setting up and organising just e-mail the Bungo Society for more info
Thanks for the info, I never realised there were so many festivals in the Southside.
As far as I'm aware, none of the events are organised by the council or by culture and sport - they're all organised by local volunteers with tight budgets and stretched for time.
I'm involved in organising the Battlefield Street Party and that's certainly the case for us.
I also work for a local charity - Urban Roots - and we've been asked to take part in many of the events, and everyone who's asked us has been a local volunteer from an organising committee.
They may receive some council funding, but even then not necessarily (we haven't).
Well from my experience the council have at least a representative on each of the bigger events committees and as the council is the main source of the funding they have a very strong say in what and who the money is spent on. Pays to keep friendly with those people.
hi just wondering if anyone knows who's organising eid on the drive 2010? i'd be interested in a stall
