Babu Street Kitchen

Anyone tried the tasty sounding Babu Kitchen lunch delivery? We've had some of their tasty treats at the Queens Park but not yet given their Tiffen (Multi layered Indian Lunch boxes) service a go.

We were in India not so long ago and spotted quite a few delivery bikes zooming about laden with lunch boxes for busy office workers and Babu brought the idea to the Southside at the end of last year. Each week they run a delivery service from a changing set menu on a Tuesday and a Friday for just £4. You place your order the day before and they will arrive between 10am and 1pm with your order in a microwavable box ready for reheating and munching. For the past couple of months we've been getting their weekly update emails listing what the meal of the week is. Really like the bold colours of their menu's very cool and really remind me of the graphics we saw when we travelled India.

I think this week may well have to be the time we give it a go as the sound of Chicken Xacuti, Spiced Savoy Cabbage and Fragrant Basmati Rice sound yum. (I've copied the menu and contact details if it sounds like your kind of thing below) Also if anyone has already given it a go and would lke to share their experience then please drop us an email or add in the comments below.

— warming, comforting, sweet and savory Goan curry with toasted coconut
Spiced Savoy Cabbage
— thinly sliced savoy cabbage, flash fried with ginger

Happy 2012

Happy new year to all our friends, hope you had a good break. We've both been really busy with work over the last few months so not been able to do as much Southside Happenings as we'd have liked. Will try to get back onto things properly soon and might rope in a few assistants out there for a couple of things we've got planned. Here's to a good year for us all.

With Burn's day around the corner there will be lots of ceilidhs and excitement going on this month. If you've heard of any happening in the South then add them in the comments below.

St Ninian’s Church Hall, Next to the Tramway, close to Pollokshields East Station. Saturday 28th January, 7pm for 7.30pm till 0.30am Ticket £20 includes meal, a glass of wine and ceilidh. BYOB as there is no bar.
