Govanhill - A Place of Many Faces
Govanhill- A Place of Many Faces
A Photography and Film Exhibition by Donnie Maclean and Anna Paul - working with Community Renewal on the Govanhill People’s History Project.
The photographs are a visual document of the area with an emphasis on its positive aspects and the exhibition is an extension of our ongoing project based in Govanhill, 'The Govanhill People's History'. There will be portraits, landscapes, people and still lives. The primary photographer is Donnie Maclean. There will also be a film from myself, Anna Paul on display.I have attached some photographs to give an idea of what they the work will be like and a leaflet about the project. The event will be social and hopefully a chance too for people to get involved in our project if they are interested as we will have a camera and recorders on the night.
'Govanhill People's History' is run in partnership with the Scottish Oral History Centre and is funded by the Heritage Lottery fund and Glasgow City Council.
It is a social history project looking at the different experiences of the residents of Govanhill past and present, as well as a wider look at Glasgow. We want to celebrate the different cultures within the community and also create an exhibition with photographs, film footage and interviews which demonstrate this. We have been conducting interviews with people from Govanhill past and present. Some of our transcripts will be displayed on the opening night.
All welcome the Launch event from 5.00pm onwards on Thursday May 2nd
