Albert Drive Project - 11 December 2011

Meet a group of artists, currently in their second year of Contemporary Performance Practice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, who are collaborating with the Tramway to make a piece of outdoor theatre about Albert Drive in Glasgow.
This piece of theatre is interested in the idea of ‘neighbour’ and involves some of the people that live on this street. In a time of texting, Facebook, Twitter and Skype it as become harder to engage with our neighbours without technology…
You might have seen them on the street already, with performances such as Memories of Home, The Community Blanket, or Tell me a story and I'll sing you a song.
The main event will take place on Sunday 11th December, meeting at 1pm at Tramway. The audience will then be invited to walk up Albert Drive and visit a number of stages where small performances will be hosted on the street. Passers by will be able to join in too.
The event is free and will last approximately 2 hours. Everyone is welcome. Transport will be provided for those who require it.

Coax Me @ The Chalet

The always interesting Chalet has a new exhibition opening tonight (2nd November) at 7pm and then running until 13 November open Thurs-Sun 10-5pm.

"Glasgow's premier Govanhill venue presents an exhibition of enticing works from local and international artists. Works are chosen for their inherent draw on a viewer, and the fulfilled promise of finding greater meaning through engaged viewing. While maintaining depth, each work is accessible and refrains from obtuse references, secret language, and empty symbolism. Viewers may leave with questions, but will not leave with bewilderment or frustration. Each work has been created through deep thinking, keen observation, and a high degree of technical skill. The imagery, even when disconcerting, has an undeniable seduction to it. Allow yourself to be drawn in, you won't be disappointed. "

Tomorrow night also sees a little music event in the gallery space featuring the excellent Williwaw.

Welcome to the Southside Happenings site, documenting our adventures, things to do, places to see, and other information on the Southside of Glasgow.
          documenting our adventures,
I am not sure how you would categorise this site, it’s not a ‘what’s on guide’ …it’s just some interesting stories about what we’re doing, or planning to do, in the Southside of Glasgow. [Now and again we might stray across the river, don’t hold it against us].
          documenting our adventures,
Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading this, it may give you an idea of what to do on your next day off, night out, or maybe just something to read during your tea break.
documenting our adventures, things to do Please feel free to add your comments, suggestions or tell us we’re completely wrong. If you know of an interesting event or a place worth a visit, feel free to get in touch with us.
